Install error reading from msi file -- cannot find

• Dec 23, 2014 - 22:18

After I've downloaded the install file and clicked on it to fire up the install, it comes back with an "Error reading from file D:\Mimi\Downloads\MuseScore-2.0-beta2.msi. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." Well, I couldn't have started up the install if I hadn't existed and been started!

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that my Downloads are on my data (D:) drive and not in the default C drive location. I suspect something hardcoded in the installation that's looking in the wrong place.

UPDATE: I WAS RIGHT ABOUT IT HAVING TO DO WITH MY DOWNLOADS BEING ON OTHER THAN THE C: DRIVE. I created a temporary Downloads directory under my user on the C drive and the install went through. PLEASE MODIFY THE INSTALL MSI TO REMOVE THE HARDCODED LOCATION INFORMATION TO PICK UP THE INSTALL FILE LOCATION NO MATTER WHERE IT IS.

Hi, I know this is replying to years ago topic, but this topic webpage came up as search result.

I also had this error message from most recent MuseScore msi installer
MuseScore-3.6.1.515740707-x86_64.msi
at
https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases

So I have no way of knowing if it's the installer or something on my end.

I moved the installer to Desktop and it installed fine.

Windows 10

Just thought I 'd mention it in case anyone ran into this situation.
