Use Shift to build chords with Piano Keyboard?

• Jan 9, 2015 - 21:56

Perhaps there is a reason it is the way it is, but currently, to add a note to a chord using the new Piano Keyboard toolbar, you need to hold Ctrl while clicking a key. Yet Shift is used to add notes to chords when entering notes by typing. This seems unnecessarily inconsistent. It's easy enough to change the modifier in pianotools.cpp; anyone see a reason for me *not* to make this change?

I think maybe accepting both shift and alt would be better, since alt is also used in keyboard note input, but since in the keyboard you are already telling the exact note you want to add, without the need to specify if the tone is higher or lower than the current note, both keys can function the same way in this case. Of coure I also think that just using shift would be more consistent than ctrl...
