pdf to mscx

I have scanned a piece of sheet music onto my computer, but it has been loaded in pdf format in Adobe Reader, and I cannot open it in MuseScore. I need to convert the format into mscx, so it is readable by MuseScore.

Could you point me in the direction of a reliable, free programme that would do this job for me?
