Musescore 2.0.0 stable release causes Windows 8 to crash on program startup

I just downloaded the stable version of Musescore 2.0 to have a play with, though whenever I try to start the program Windows becomes unresponsive - the cursor becomes unresponsive and the "background processing" circle animation freezes.

All System Info I can think of:

Lenovo E540
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-4702MQ x64 architecture
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M
