Copy/ paste lyrics & lyrics change appearance - unexpectedly

• May 11, 2010 - 13:22

I want to copy/paste lyrics, but I can't see it's possible.

Some times it's good to have all the lyrics with the notes - but in one of our songs, with 4 lines of lyrics, the textstyle changes during the song! It doesn't look nice, and sometimes it's not so readable...

I've tried to change font and page-layout, but it will not change to my satisfaction...
Also the instrumentnames has changed their looks!

What can I do to make it work?

Thanks.. I downloaded 0.9.6 and there are fine inprovements, and good with more danish translations :-D

But I don't see how I can copy the lyrics (a line or all) to another voice?
The problem with the text-layout and instrumentnames is still there.

When working with the new version I found out what the problem is!!

When I key in the lyrics and the instrumentnames it comes out right.
When it's finish, and I want to change layout it only looks like it changes - but it don't do it proper.

When I change fx. style and size, I have to save the work, close it - and then open it again.
Then I have to delete lyrics and instrumentnames, and then key it in again - now it looks like I asked for.
But if it still doesn't fit right on the page.... then I will have to do it again....

Maybe I do something wrong? Maybe it's not ment to change layout afterwords?

It is not possible to copy paste lyric syllables in current versions of MuseScore. If you want to follow development on this issue subscribe to:

Version 0.9.6 does allow you to change the text font. To be clear, the text properties dialog is obtained by right-clicking on a text or lyric and choosing "Text Properties...". For more details see the link I mentioned in the previous comment.

With your phrase, "change layout it only looks like it changes - but it don't do it proper" you will need to provide more details in order for me to understand. What exact steps are you doing? What is the behavior that you expect? What is the actual behavior (helpful to include a screenshot of this)?

With your second part, "When I change fx. style and size, I have to save the work, close it - and then open it again" why do you have to do these steps? what happens if you don't? And the next part "Then I have to delete lyrics and instrumentnames, and then key it in again" Why do you need to delete lyrics? "now it looks like I asked for.
But if it still doesn't fit right on the page..." What do you mean by 'it doesn't fit right"?

When I've done a whole score, I want it to fit the page(s) in a way so it's doesn't go on more pages than nes. but it may not be too small...
The problem is, that when I use the layout-menu, some of the things wil not appear in the score, or not on the whole score. That means that there suddenly where more than one texttype and sizes!
Now I found a good texttype (Verdana) and with 0.9.6 I can mark the text and make changes straight away. That's really good :-) - so it's not a problem anymore.
And now I've saved a style, so I can import it to new scores.

But... when I start a new score, I'm asked to write fx. Title, author - but the import of style is after this step, and the text comes out with another layout than I want. When importing a style, it doesn't make changes to the score.
Therefore I'll have to make changes to the text wich is there from the start. Everything I key in afterwards wil have the right style.

But fx. instruments (the text to the left of the measures), I can't change layout or text just after I've done the changes via the menu: First I have to delete fx. Soprano, save and then go back and write it again - the new look will now appear.

Hopefully you have the score I sent with my answer - I don't have it here anymore... I have now changes the scores with the problem :-)
