Handling of appoggiaturas and acciaccaturas

• May 5, 2015 - 11:07

I have noticed MuseScore experiences difficulties with appoggiaturas and acciaccaturas.

1) Changing the velocity

The online manual says it can be done by
a) Select the (entire) notes.
b) Key in "F8".
This fails when the sheet has appoggiatura(s) or acciaccatura(s): "F8" does not function at all.

2) Exchanging the voices ( in the status bar).

This creates "invalid" measures (either too much or too few notes) when specified to the sheet with appoggiatura(s) or acciaccatura(s).

1/ I select a grace note (appoggiaturas and acciaccaturas) and press F8 with MuseScore 2.0 on Mac OSX 10.10 and I can see the inspector and change the note velocity. If I set it to user > 0, then the note doesn't sound. Can you explain exactly what you are doing that doesn't work?

2/ Exchanging voice. I'm not sure I get what you are doing exactly. We call status bar the bottom bar. But playing with grace notes and changing voices I found this bug #58971: Changing voice of grace notes creates corrupted score. Did you follow the same steps?

If you have both normal and grace notes selected at once, the note settings in the Inspector are not available, because they work differently for normal versus grace notes. It's a known limitation of the current system.

As for exchanging voices, that does indeed look like a bug. But FWIW, this too was meant more for moving individual notes. The correct way to do voice excahnge for entire selections is via Edit / Voices.
