I just noticed that they all contain forward slashes rather than backslashes. Is that deliberate?

Yes. I believe it is. Backslashes are only for windows. On Windows, both should work if you changed the path.

I'm still using Windows Vista and when I changed the path for Scores nothing changed - it still went to MuseScore2/Scores. I've now changed the forward slashes to backslashes and the path works.
