Moving notehead to opposite side of stem and back, flip note stem doesn't work properly
1) Add a note
2) Flip direction of note stem with X, then back again, no problems
3) Press Shift+X twice moving notehead to opposite side of stem and back again
4) Now flipping direction of note stem with X, notehead is in wrong place on opposite side of the stem

That's not incorrect. After the first 3 steps, your note is now explicitly set to "Down" stem direction, and "Right" notehead (or Up / Left, if that's how it started). So at step 4, MuseScore is simply preserving that.
Instead of flipping the stem or notehead back to its original position by pressing X or Shift+X a second time, you should instead explicitly set it to "Auto" using the Inspector. Now it will return to its default behavior of automatically adjusting.

Oh so I see the Mirror head option under Note in the Inspector is the one altered with Shift+X. So it needs changing back to Auto. Thanks for the quick reply.
