Repeats not spanning systems and tempo issues in score

• Jun 6, 2015 - 14:46

Please see attached file, score_playback_issues.mscz:

As you can see its a guitar and bass trio. I'm having the following issues:

(1) The volta repeats at bars 16-17 and 33-34 are not spanning the systems.

(2) The score obeys the first tempo text indication but ignores subsequent tempo text at bars 19 and 36.

(3) The grace notes at bars 16 and 18 don't play properly, but I understand that's not a priority fix at the moment.

(1) The only good way to extend a volta is double click, shift + Right

(2) Tempo text doesn't support double dots in 2.0.1. So or you delete a dot in the tempo text, or you uncheck follow text in the inspector and you change the tempo manually.

(3) Definition of "properly" seems to be different depending on instrument, composer, period and user of MuseScore :). Did you try to use an acciaccatura instead, meaning the one with a slash through it?

Thanks for comments:

(1) Deleting the problem voltas and reapplying using the shift + right arrow to move the right handle in one go (as you suggested) solved the problem. The lines are now spanning systems as expected.

(2) I deleted the extra dot, which solved the playback issue for that case, but there still appears to be some buggy playback behaviour in tempo text. If you alter the numerical value only and exit the text, it behaves as expected; but a problem can occur when you subsequently alter the formatting of the note symbol in the same operation. I got round this by altering the number first, exiting the text, checking the value against the displayed bpm, then changing the note point size. in a second operation.

In addition, the dot looks better if applied in the same text font as the "=" sign and number, and not from the special symbols palette – due to formatting issues.

(3) The problem with the grace notes was that I used appogiaturas rather than acciaccaturas. Now sorted.

Scores now plays as written.
