Moving from note to note using keyboard, version 2.0

• Jun 13, 2015 - 21:57

My sincere apologies if this is written somewhere, or has been answered, etc. I have searched and can't find anything. Please bear with me.

I am using version 2.01, rev. b25f81d. I have Windows 8.1.

I have to put a mallet notation (handbells) on almost every lowest note for the entire score. I have trouble using the mouse due to arthritis and nerve damage so I use the keyboard whenever I can.

I click on the lowest note of the chord and paste the mallet mark, then I have to click on the next bottom note, paste the mallet mark, etc. If I use the right arrow, it goes to the highest note of the chord. If I use the right arrow then the down arrow to get to the lowest note, it drops the notes by 1/2 steps as I go lower. Ctrl-arrow goes to the first, highest note in the next measure. Alt-arrow does nothing, Shift-arrow selects both chords (the one I'm on, and the next), Tab does nothing. I would just put the mallet marks on the highest notes but you can't see them because they're lost in the measures. I've got a long way to go and I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how this works, or if it's not possible.

Thank you very much.

Alt-up/down moves to the next higher/lower note in the chord, and onto the next voice or next staff if there are no more notes at the current position.

What kind of mallet marks do you mean? Most marks are attached to the chord as a whole, not individual notes, so it shouldn't matter whether the top or bottom note is selected. Fingers are among the few exceptions - is that what you are using? Might be better to just use some other type of marking that displays below the staff by default so you don't have tpo select the bottom note at all.

If you post the score you are having problems with (see "File attachments" link right below where you type your post), and descirbe more full what you are trying to achieve, probably we can help you do it more efficiently.
