can't get midi recognized

Trying to get midi input to musescore. When I click preferences and I/O, the category for midi input is blank and there are no options In the device block, there is only primary sound capture driver, mic, stereo mix, primary sound driver , or speaker/HP. how can I get my Yamaha keyboard to show up? Thank you
