Counting the beats
I there a way to place the beat count onto the score? Being a beginner I find it useful to place the number of the beat against the note within that measure. It would be good to have a coloured digit to distinquish from say the fingering. Thanks.

there is no automatic way (none that I know of anyway), but you could use staff text for that.
Maybe a task for a plugin?
You could create your own template. As a beginner I feel you are unlikely to be using all four Voices per stave so you could place rests in Voice 4, hide them and then add text to each. See the attached and adapt as necessary.

Hi there. I know this is an old thread, but I could not find an update on this topic.
Does Musescore now that this as a feature? I cold not see it.
For the approach noted aove - I used the atached template and tried to add quarter rests, so I could put in the "&"'s. But I could not figure out how to put them in Voice 2 (as in the sheet noted above). I copied the first 4 measures added to the end of the sheet, to make measures 9 to 12. In measure 9, I split the quarter rests (and turned off visibility). When I first added the &'s, they were in voice 1. I deleted those, then selected on the 'odd' quarter notes and clicked "add staff text"to add the &'s. But then they hadno voice, and I cold not add a voice to them.
Please see attached.
Any suggestions?

Perhaps this plugin from Dominique Verrière can be of use. (in French)
