Instrument division
Hi, I am wondering if there is any way to divide a certain instrument into two lines just for a page and then it goes back to one line? For example, if I am writing a full orchestral work, but there is a (instrument here) solo, can I divide that line so one line is the solo and the other line is the orchestra, but only for one page? I know how to split the staff, but when I do that, it stays split for the whole thing...even when there are alot of rests. Thanks.

You need to define the instrument for the whole score, write only when needed and then go to Style->Edit global style->Page->Hide empty staves

When I do that though, most of the bar lines disappear.

It's a known bug : #6107: Multi-staff barlines break with hide empty staves.
