Musescore crashes reading score from MusicXML file (suffix is mxl) . File may be corrupted.

As the subject says, this happens and is repeatable with the same file. Running 0.9.6.2 (updated yesterday) on XP Pro SP3 all latest updates. Application Eventlog has entry:

XML file may be corrupted, produced by translation of PDF file by pdftomusicpro - the try-it-out no charge copy.
With no other error information available that I know of (new user) it's hard to get further than just reporting it.
Couldn't muscore report a little detail before dying? That would be good, defensive programming.

I think I have a similar problem, I have been producing a part for my instruement, saved it now can't open it. Every time I try I get a Windows box telling me that mscore has stopped working and the programme will close.
I can open all of my other files, same format. If any one can open this one I would be most happy, don't fancy doing it all again.

Strange that Chris, I opened the PDF at 47.22KB but when I try to open the other one which now is titled
"Bless%20'Em%20ALL%20[1].mscz.pdf" it comes up with Page not Found.
The title seeems to have found lot of characters in between Bless, Em and All!

Original report was caused by user error in trying to convert pdf file to xml. Converter program defaulted an option to compressed. Concatenating two compressed files (page one and page two) was not producing a valid file. Works fine if I use uncompressed XML files instead of mlx.
Apologies for the false report as it seems to have lead several others into swampland I never even got near.

Is there any way to get pdf or sibelius file types into musescore directly or into xml as an intermediate step? I was so impressed by musescore on first trying it but since the people supplying scores to me use an old version of Sibelius I cannot get their output into musescore other than typing it in. pdf2music pro I have not found very useful - score is very poor quality by the time it has got through musescore.
