Slur Playback

• Jul 12, 2015 - 14:21

Most instruments have separate samples for the attack of a note and for the sustain. Is it possible to get notes in a slur to only use the sustain sample for a slur effect?

It is not currently possible. The idea of somehow getting MuseScore to do this has been floating around for some time, but it's more difficult than you might think. It's high on the lsit of things I would *like* to see for a future release, and I am intending to look at this.

No, the problem is with the underlying synthesizer architecture used by MuseScore - "fluidsynth", which does not to my knowledge provide a way to access the "legato controller" directly except, from what I understand, in monophonic mode. Instead, we would have to do this differently, using the "expression controller" (I think I have this right), and that too is not currently possible given how MuseScore and fluidsynth interface, but might become possible after some work being done this summer.

If I have details wrong, hopefully someone will correct me. I will need to understand these issues better if I am to have any success implementing it!
