Windows / Linux incompatibility
I have the newest version 0.9.6.2 on Windows and got 0.9.4 as the most recent
Ubuntu download.
Using linux, I opened a small file that I had created in Windows. The score is badly
messed up in linux. The instrument names do not appear, and the first note
of each staff appears in front of the clef symbol.
I am assuming that there is some problem using newer files in earlier versions.
Is this the case? If not, please provide some suggestions how to work around this.

I was able to find 0.9.6 at https://launchpad.net/~mscore-ubuntu/+archive/mscore-stable
and updated to that. By using the .xml file from Windows, I was able to generate
a workable file and save it in a .mscz file.
Scores created in 0.9.6.x can not be opened in 0.9.5 and earlier. So use the same versions on all platforms.

MuseScore is backward compatible since it can open old files in new software version. However, MuseScore is not forward compatible.
