Got it. just change the tempo on the beat before the new measure

See previous reply. Just add a regular tempo change and edit the text. Add two or three if you want it to sound more gradual. Indeed at some point it would be nice to have this more automatic, but do keep in mind playback is very much secondary in priority to notation.
