Change Instrument Channel on Articulation?

Hello,

I just found this software today and it does some really nifty things that Sibelius won't do (Like native support for SFZ and SF2 files on a score by score basis)

So far, I am loving MuseScore and I'm about ready to ditch Sibelius altogether!

However, I have a problem that I need to see if the software can overcome. I am trying to figure out how to patch an instrument based on its articulation.

I see that you can edit instruments to have multiple channels so that for instance you can make a trumpet mute. What I would like to do is have the software automatically switch sounds on articulations.

I have 3 French Horn patches that I would like to use. One is Sustain, one is Stacatto, and one is Mute. I can edit the instruments.xml file to include these new channels, but what I want to know is if I can automatically get it to switch instrument patches when I place a Stacatto articulation in the score. I'd rather not create and edit staff messages ad nauseum each and every time I want to patch an articulation and then make their text color white so they remain hidden. I suppose I could learn how to write a plugin to parse my scores for me...

Is this possible with the current software, or will I have to patch instruments manually through Staff Text?

There is no way currently to do this via articulation. However, you don't need to make text white to hdie it - simply mark it invisible by pressing V. You can create these text and add them to your palette as described in the Handbook under "Custom palette", so applying them is a cinch.

I did not notice the visibility checkmark in the properties.

This will be a slight pain to do as I'll have to drag 3 actions over whenever I'd like to articulate a Stacatto, but I suppose that's better than not being able to have it play back correctly.
