Bug: Grace Notes / Playback

• Jan 3, 2009 - 22:45

First off-- Fantastic work on MuseScore!

I've come across a possible bug: noticed that grace notes in my score were not heard (or highlighted) during playback.
The grace notes are two 16th notes before a triplet. I fiddled around a little (deleting existing grace notes, saving program, reloading score)-- for reasons unknown to me, the combination that seemed to work was dragging the grace notes as 8th notes separately-- changing them to 16th notes, then arrowing them up to the proper pitch.

Let me know if you have a better way or if I can provide any more info-- Thanks!

Alex

I've been having the same problem with ornaments playing back. The way I work around is to notate the music as I want it to be played (ornaments written out as regular notes), Then I use the beam properties in the pallet to break away the ornament notes into individual notes (change all beams to flags on the grace notes) then I right click the grace notes and select "note properties" and check the "no stems" box. then I right click again and click "set invisible" the grace notes should be grayed out by now and will not print, but will play. All that's left to do is add the grace notes from the pallet and fix the appearance of the note the grace notes are attached to. It's still a problem there, because I haven't been able to do certain things like hide just one line of a multiple beam. Also, I just tried to reproduce your score and it looks like my suggestion might not work in this particular case (admittedly it is messy, but works sometimes) because of the triplet figure over a quarter. I don't think I could do what I proposed and keep the triplets both beamed together and aligned with the other notes. Anyways, until something better comes along, I hope you find this interesting.
