General Midi Question

• Aug 6, 2015 - 01:26

Hi, gang!!!

I want to know how MuseScore does to "mixdown" an score with more than 16 different instruments to the General MIDI Implementation World.

I mean: MuseScore doesn't have the 16 MIDI channels maximun limitations, so it can play more than 16 real audio (or MIDI) channels, but... What does it do with the extra instruments when it saves that work into the Standard MIDI Format files?

Is there some rule to this? Or, simply... Put all the extra sounds out of the way? ???

Just a doubt.

Greetings & Blessings!!!!!!!

Juan

There is an easy way for you to find out :)

Export a score with more than 16 instruments to an SMF then open it up in a MIDI sequencer.

You can then see what MuseScore does with those extra instruments :)
