Found a soundfont file with autoharp

• Oct 2, 2010 - 10:34

I finally found a soundfont file that has autoharp included it is made by digitalsoundfactory.com.

I know that Musescore uses soundfont files, but could someone check out the info for it to see if it will work in Musescore? I want to make sure before I spend the money on it.

Thanks

Just so you are aware, the SoundFont does not follow General MIDI instrument numbers so when you select Auto Harp (number 66) and share your score with someone using MuseScore with a GM SoundFont they will hear Saxophone instead of Auto Harp.

In MuseScore you wouldn't hear strumming--only the written notes play back. To approximate the sound without a special SoundFont, you can create a score for guitar.

Thank you for that information.

It was a shot in the dark for me I guess. I have tried listening to pieces I have made using change instrument feature with guitar, but it did not sound like any guitar I have ever heard. Maybe if I create the score from scratch with guitar as the chosen instrument rather than trying to add it in later , or or have the sound mixer patch it in, it will sound better.

The autoharp is one of the more obscure instruments, but I do wish someone would make a midi sound bank that includes it so everyone could hear it.
