[SOLVED] Repeated Sections Playback Error?

• Aug 18, 2015 - 04:13

Hello, first time MuseScore user. I've been a Finale user for 15 years. Found out about MuseScore 2.0.2, and so I decided to give it a try. After a week or so of playing around I completed my first score, which you can find here . It's a march for piano four-hands, Op. 45/1, by Beethoven.

I'm also attaching the original .mscz file to this post (EDIT: attachment removed), because I'm having issues with the playback of repeated sections -- the repeat signs are not being observed correctly. The following list shows the order of measures that SHOULD be played:
mm. 1-40
repeat of mm. 9-40
mm. 41-48
repeat of mm. 41-48
mm. 49 to end
mm. 1-40 (da capo)
(Each group of measures includes a pickup bar)

This list shows the order of measures that MuseScore plays back:
mm. 1-40
repeat of mm. 1-40
mm. 41-48
(mm. 41-48 NOT repeated)
mm. 49 to end
mm. 1-40 (da capo)

All repeat signs in the score are mid-measure repeats. However, in measure 40, because of the system break, I had to split the measure into two, and then put in the repeat signs.

Is there something I'm forgetting? Is there a bug? I am using the unsupported 64-bit Windows build, version 2.0.2. (That can't be the reason, can it?) Let me know, and thanks in advance!

Mid-measure repeats don't play back. It's not a bug, exactly; just something not implemented. if you want to hear playback, you would need to split the measure in two (Edit / Measure / Split Measure) and add a regualr repeat sign, just as you did in measure 40.

Got it. I've replaced the mid-measure repeats with repeat signs in between split measures, and now the playback is fine. Thanks for the quick response.
