Page layout has changed when opening a previously saved score.

I have made several pieces of music and have added chords above some notes, and have also used the subtitle feature to make some alternate chord tabs.

For the subtitle boxes, I like to have it all left justified so I have clicked on the left justify icon when entering the tect, and I also right clicked on the text and adjusted the text properties and chose the "Align left edge of text to reference point" option. This allows me to type in the text and align it easily to the notes. Once I have everything to my liking, I save the score.

When I reopen the score later on, The chords (created using ctrl K) and the alternate chord tabs (created using the subtitle option) have moved.

How do I get them to stay put?

Ok, doing this from memory as I am not at work, but here goes.

1. create the entire piece of music (notes on staves), using the icons on the menu bar.

2. Add lyrics using ctrl+L.

3. Add accompaniment chords using ctrl+K.
a. Right click on the 1st chord text and choose to edit "Text Style" to make the chord text Times New Roman 15pt, and bold. I also put a check mark in the "change similar elements" box.
b. Select my 1st chord again and make sure the cursor is to the right of the text, then all I need do is repeatedly hit the space bar to go through all the chords to change them to the new attributes.

4. Add melody chords by creating a subtitle box for each system staff line using the following steps:
a. Click on "Create" then "Text" then "Subtitle"
b. Enter text in the newly created subtitle box.
c. Repeat for each staff line.
d. Right click on the 1st subtitle box and choose to edit "Text Style" to make the text in the subtitle box left justified, Times New Roman 10pt, and have a border around the subtitle box. I also put a check mark in the "change similar elements" box so I only have to do this once.

5. Manually move the chord text and melody chord text so that it lines up to my preference.

6. Save file.

At this point everything is exactly as I want it to be, but then I open the file back up, my Subtitle boxes are moved so far to the left that about half the text is not visible, and my chord text has been raised toward the top of the page significantly.

I have tried editing the text and general styles and then saving the style as a new style, but that has not helped. Even if I try and open the style once I have the file re-opened. At least I can not figure out how to apply the style.

If you are wondering why I have two different sets of chords, I play autoharp and we typically mark our music for melody play and accompaniment play on the same sheet. The accompaniment chords are normally located above the melody chords, are larger and in bold to avoid confusion.

If you would like, when I return home, I will provide screen-shots of how the file looks when I save it and when I re-open it.

Have done a little more experimentation on my own, as well as some reading through the old forum posts. With that information, I have changed the way I am using the chord entry feature to make me have less re-work when I open a piece. but I am still having some problems. Here is what I am doing now:

1. Created a blank score with the chord text attributes that seem to work very well. (played around with the font and X/Y positions to get it right).
2. Create score using the blank score as a template and all all lyrics.
3. Use ctrl+K to add the melody chords to each note. They are all mostly right where I want them. Then I have to right click on the 1st chord and use the edit text option to shrink the text down (so I can tell between melody and accompaniment chords) So far every seems to be fine.
4. Use ctrl+K again only on the notes that will display an accompaniment chord. This will give me another chord, that is above the melody chord. All I have to do is click and hold the left mouse button to move it into position.

I now have a score that is perfectly formatted so I save it in the compressed Musescore format (the default the program selects), and I also save one in a PDF format.

My problem arises when I re-open the file. The chords have cone back to the default X/Y positions and if I try and use the edit text option again, ALL of the chords disappear.

I don't know what is different about the attachment you sent, but that works great for keeping the chords in place. Thanks.

Now all I need to figure out is how to get the font attributes to stay changed.

I made the bottom row of chords Times New Roman 10 and the top row Times New Roman 15 (bold) and saved the file.

When I re-opened it, all of them were set to Times New Roman 10 (non-bold).

Is this something that is going to happen no matter what because they are coded as chords in Musescore and all the chords are loaded with what is set at the chordname text style during the loading of the file?
