Musescore crashed - I lost hours of work and the restore function failed

I have a mac mini running OS-X 7.4 and Musescore 2.02. During a cut and paste operation, Musescore froze and crashed. Unfortunately, this was a new score and I had not saved a version of the file before the crash happened. Musescore attempted to restore after the crash, but then flashed a message saying it could not read the backup file. It then tossed me back to the Start Center.

Is there any hope of recovering the score? I tried looking into the "Library/Application Support" directory to find the backup file (if any) but could not see any Musescore related directories. Where would that backup file be?

Well, any help would be appreciated. This will teach me to regularly save my work, a lesson that I had forgotten as Musescore's crash restore function has worked well in the past.
