Hide accompaniment staves during playback

• Dec 12, 2010 - 16:33

My system: Ubuntu 10.10, Musescore 0.9.6.3. I am new to Musescore, and just subscribed to this forum today, so please forgive me if I unintentionally break some rule. I use Musescore primarily to play my violin along with accompaniment. My question: is it possible to hide from view the accompaniment staves during playback so that the body of the score appears less crowded (just the violin part visible), at the same time retaining the sound. I have used Notation Composer 2.0 that included this feature that I found most useful. Thank you for any assistance you may offer in this matter. Norberto.

Hello Xavierjazz: I believe you interpreted my question correctly. Do you know if the option to hide accompaniment staves while retaining the sound exists in Musescore? I'm not referring to empty staves. Thank you.

Thank you Xavierjazz. Yours is a valid option, though I was looking for the other alternative that I found most convenient to use. I hope somebody will show interest in developing this feature for Musescore.
Best regards.

Hello Chen: thank you for your prompt response. Before posting my question I looked at the Style > Edit General Style > Score > Hide Empty Staves option. All it does is hide the measures that contain only rests. What I am looking for is for an option that allows me to see and hear the staff I'm playing (violin in my case), while hiding, yet allowing the sound of the accompaniment staves (eg the piano 2 staves). I'm not sure this function exists in the current edition of Musescore but it would be helpful to have it. Thank's again.
