From harpsichord to classical guitar
I've just started using MuseScore (version 0.9.6.3 revision 3507, WindowsXP) and managed to enter and transpose My lady Careys dompe (attached). Now I want to transcribe this piece for classical guitar and also for recorder and guitar but I am not at all sure of how to procede. I've tried various ways to copy and paste but end up with only the treble staff notes on the guitar staff (with errors in the second voice) or the bass staff notes but cannot combine the two staffs.
I tried to copy one voice at a time but couldn't work out how. I found something when I right clicked on a note> select> more, but I could only select notes or rests, and even then I could not copy and paste them.
On searching the forums I find tantalising suggestions that don't quite fit what I want to do and, since I don't have any experience with other music programs, I can't generalise the answers to fit my problem. Baffling.

The trick is to copy and paste both voices, and then delete the voice you don't want after you have pasted it.
After you have pasted both voices, you can right click on a note in the voice that you don't want and choose "Select > More...". In the Selection dialog check "same voice", click OK to dismiss the dialog and then press Del to delete the selected notes.

But I want all the notes on one stave. This time when I copied the bass clef then the treble clef I got this result with half the notes of the bass clef missing (as attached).

I thought you were just trying to get the melody notes since you said you mentioned recorder. Here is the same with all the notes on the same staff. It seems like an awful lot of information for one staff.
Here are the steps I took, starting with your original score:
After that it was just a matter of deleting the extra staff (via Create > Instruments) and changing the clef .

Thanks for this info. I did work it out in the end, the common point being that you can only copy and paste into the upper voice(s) of a staff. Once I realised this all the remarks about exchaging voices made sense! I think that a few sentences added to the handbook would save hours of frustration. I shall suggest it.
Yes, there is a lot of info for one staff, but that is classical guitar for you, and especially anything transcribed from early music sources where the harmony changes on just about each beat. I may edit this score futher when enthusiasm strikes again.
Cheers.
