How to know the source software of a MIDI file.

• Nov 1, 2015 - 21:27

Hi, gang!!!

I wonder if there is a way to know which was the software used to create an standard MIDI format file.

Also, even I guess the answer is "NO", the same question to a printed paper score.

Some idea? ???

Greetings & Blessings from Chile!!!!!!!

It depends. For MIDI, some software put metadata in the MIDI file, so by using a sequencer or a MIDI to text program you can get some info.
For printed scores, not really. You can have a guess if you know the fonts of the standard software very well. Often the G clef is revealing.
