Bug: Piano notes turned to "x"

• Jan 15, 2011 - 11:44

Can anyone explain this? (See attached file)
As soon as I tried to change the pitch of a note in the left hand staff of the piano in my quartet, a lot of notes turned to the symbol of "x". They keep playing as before, but my score is certainly ruined.

As I said days ago to lasconic, I will post a series of problems that emerge while I' m using MuseScore. I hope the developers will propose solutions (if existing) and of course care for the nessecary amendments in the software.

Anxiously waiting to see if there is a cure for this one...

You change the piano staff to a percussion staff in Display -> Mixer or in Staff properties and then the piano staff has been changed to a drum staff and use the relevant notehead. I changed this back to normal and select the whole piano staff and apply normal noteheads. See attached file.

My God, you're fast Lasconic.
But please, give me a detailed description of what exactly you do, because I'm not sure I understand.
Changing the Mixer to Grand Piano didn't work.
And what do you mean by saying "select the whole piano staff and apply normal noteheads"?
Step by step, if you please...
Thand you very much, really.

As I noticed, if you play back the attachment (M94) of my "Piano notes turned to x" issue, notes that were transformed to "x" sound as drums voices. Still, I repeat that in my original score they keep playing like piano.

Quite annoying, I must confess.

The fastest way I could find :

  1. Open your score
  2. Right click on the first measure of piano -> Staff properties -> Change instrument -> Keyboard -> Piano -> OK
  3. In your score, double click on piano and Pno. and change the font to Time new roman / 12
  4. Ctrl + A to select everything in the score and open the palette -> Notehead and double click on the normal notehead
