Metronom changes speed in score
I entered a few notes in a single line (with upbeat). Time sigature = 4/4.
The first few notes are eights. When i set the metronom to "on", it clicks on the eights and changes to quarters when they appear. Expected: metronom clicks on quarters from the beginning through the whole piece.

Yes, apparently if the first measure is set to an actual duration that would normally result in the 1/8 note beat, this is used for the metronome as well even though the time signature suggests otherwise. Could you file an official bug report (Help / Report a Bug) to the issue tracker?
