Why does the music sometimes not play even if i have saved it

Have you tried: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings-0 ?
Save / close / reload shoudl never be necessary. What went wrong when you tried to play it? How did you try playing it - by pressing space bar or hitting a toolbar button or using the play panel or via MIDI or OSC remote control?
I can *guess* maybe you were in Edit mode - like if you accidentally double clicked something - which disables playing by first three methods at least (probably does for the other two as well, but I can't test that).
