dislocated beam

• Nov 29, 2015 - 20:12

Hi -- thanks for your last help.
In bar 428, the beam has been disconnected from its notes and appears one line above. I am going to try deleting the notes and re-entering them, but I thought I would report the situation in case it was of interest or if it shows something seriously wrong with my file.
Thanks

This is a known issue - see #16278: Beaming notes over barlines and line breaks. But no need to re-enter the notes. Just reset the beaming of those notes to Auto. You must have inadvertently set the beaming of the first note to "Beam middle", which tried to beam across the barline, which doesn't currently work over line breaks.

So:

1) select measure 28 (both staves)
2) double click "Auto" in Beam Properties palette
3) re-establsih the intended beaming by selecting the second & fourth notes then double clicking the "Beam middle" icon

BTW, it looks like you did a lot of manual beam overrides, would have been easier to do it globally, as described in the Handbook under "Time signature" :-). You ahve do each staff separately, but in just a few clicks, you can make it so all eighths are beamed together by default.
