Blanchet 1720 and Early Music Soundfonts
I recently stumbled across the Blanchet 1720 SoundFont on my MacBook Pro. After listening to several samples on YouTube, I really couldn't tell the difference between the SoundFont and an actual harpsichord itself. However, upon opening the document (which was a sfArk file), I found out that Musescore wouldn't accept it for some apparent reason. I'm quite annoyed right now and would like to know a loophole around this problem. If not, any suggestions as to a good harpsichord SoundFont, preferably one with multiple stops. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

I works for me.
Just to be sure and for the sake of completeness: I downloaded the Soni Musicæ original file from their site ( http://sonimusicae.free.fr/blanchet1-en.html ) and extracted the sf2. Then:
1) Open or create a score.
2) Open the Synthesizer dlg box
3) Add to the sound font list the Blanchet-1720.sf2 file from the folder it has been extracted to
4) Open the mixer
5) At the beginning or at the end (according the new sound font has been added at the beginning of at the end of the sound font list in Synthesizer) of the sound list, there are the sound provided by the Blanchet sound font (4 'stops': Blanchet-Jeu 1, Blanchet-Jeu 2, Blanchet-Luth, Blanchet-Jeux 1 et 2). Select any to have have the corresponding staff to use that sound.
It works here, with MuseScore 2.0.2 under Linux Mint 17.2.

I appreciate the instructions for inserting the SoundFont into the synthesizer, but I'm more interested in how to extract/decompress the file itself.

You need a copy of SFArk to uncompress the file.
I'm not sure whether it's available for Mac, but if you can't find a working copy let me know the link to the file and I will post a download link to the uncompressed soundfont.

I just saw your offer to decompress the Blanchet 1720 SoundFont. The link provided did work, however, OSX wouldn't open the app itself. If you could by any chance, do the decompressing yourself, I'd be more that appreciative of your generous offer.
