Creating general purpose staves

How to create a "general purpose" staff, without an instrument name? I'm forced to pick an instrument during a score creation, and there's no "Treble staff" nor "Bass staff" item in the instrument list.

I assume you are trying to "create a new score from scratch"? Don't think of that as selecting "names" for the staves; you're really selecting the *instrument* that will be used for MIDI playback. You've got to pick *something*. You are free to actually *name* the staff anything you want - including nothing - by selecting a measure on the staff, right clicking, and going into staff properties.

But if all you want is a basic one nameless staff to enter melodies, no need to create a score from scratch - there is already a "leadhseet" template for just that purpose. And if you don't like it, you can create your own customized template and save it to the the templates folder.

Well, actually it should be some sort of worksheet with fingerings of scales and chords, where it really doesn't matter how it would sound like, and I don't actually care a smallest bit about that, so MuseScore is free to pick anything it likes. Yes, it's for piano, but I don't want to be bothered with multi-stave systems and such. So there definitely should be Sibelius like option for "Signle staff - treble" and "single staff - bass" for such occasions.
