Drum Set Notation

• Feb 25, 2011 - 17:22

Please Consider putting some time into the drum set notation. As of now it is not posable to change the note heads like you can with other instruments. Even under the "change drum set notation" box it is VERY limited. at least give us the option to change note heads to a "circle x" and, allow drum set notation to have slash notation.

I consider this to be a very big set back when creating drum set parts. There are some work arounds but they are time consuming.

Please consider to making this a priority for the next release.

Thank you.

Meanwhile, in the current release, you can create some notations not directly supported by the drum set editor by creating your own customized instruments.xml file and loading it via Preferences, or by doing a save from the drumset editor, editing the resultant file by hand, and reloading it, or by simply saving your document as uncompressed and then editing that document by hand. The syntax of these files are reasonably straightforward. I have used this method to create a note with a slash head and it worked fine ( 5), and then I simply marked the notes stemless normally to allow me to have slash notation. I also just tried making an xcircle head and that worked too (6), . See http://musescore.org/en/node/8223 for a great example of what else can be done in the way of customizing drum notation (and sounds).
