The curiousity that doesn't kill the cat.

I'm curious. What is the difference between musescore.org and musescore.com?

Comments

MuseScore.org is the home of the user and developer community around the free and open source MuseScore software.
MuseScore.com (still in alpha) will be a commercial service to store and share your MuseScore score with others.

A question first: Does it confuse you that there are two websites currently?

There were several reasons why we believed it would be beneficial to have two domains.
Audience: both websites will serve a different audience
Message: we wanted to make a clear distinction that MuseScore is free & open source, hence the .org, and that musescore.com will be a commercial service.
Technical reasons: easier to maintain, scale, develop
Search engine optimization: search engines rank focused websites higher than websites offering several solutions
