Am I Losing my mind?

As the saying goes, of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.....

I recently upgraded to V1.0, and seem to be missing how to input rests. As I remember it (and as the tutorial shows), if you are using the keyboard for entry, and you wanted to insert a 1 beat rest in 4/4 time, you would touch 5 to select a quarter note, and then touch the space bar to insert the rest. That does not seem to work for me anymore. What did I do wrong?

I should add that I am already in note entry mode.
