Weekly status update June 27th to July 3rd

Hi,
midterm is over and we have to see what will happen in the rest of the time. I think I already reached more than I expected (even though I knew that what I was reaching for was very low to make sure I'll reach that without any hassle).

This week got some new opcodes (I think and hope this will happen for every week from now on!):

  • on_hiccN/on_loccN - adds the possibility of playing back samples base on certain

Soundfont Showcase: MF Natural Concert Guitar

7 years ago • 3 comments

Hi,
I thought it would be nice to show you some soundfonts I discovered that use new features of Zerberus. Today I want you to show "Natural Concert Guitar" by Markus Fiedler.

You can get it here - and find more information about it on this website (alas it is in german). It uses a modified creative common license - it is based on a CC-BY-NC-SA. It is modified in the way that it allows commercial usage under "normal

Weekly status update June 20th to 26th

Hi,
this week is the midterm week. So half the work should be done. I think we're pretty good. All things I wanted to do to Fluidsynth are there and working and just need a little polishing :) And we're doing very good on Zerberus. I think we would be able to ditch Fluidsynth by the end of this GSoC in favor of Zerberus. That would mean a lot more flexibility for soundfont designers and ease of use for users

Zerberus sound examples!

7 years ago • 3 comments

Hi,
I wanted to show you some of the progress of Zerberus. For these examples I used the SSO sfz soundfont. But I would like you to tell me which other soundfonts might be interesting to play with?

So I wanted to show how important looping is and so I took something slow - and what could be better than Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings? I used this score.

So here is it in MuseScore 2.0.3 and here my

Weekly status update June 13th to 19th

Hi everyone,
this week was about improving Zerberus even more! It now supports sfz 1 volume envelopes. So the most important features are there. I hope I can show it to you in one of the next blog post what it sounds like now!

I also investigated more on the legato side (as the post from yesterday shows) I also implemented the feature that the sound bends (pitchwise) to the next one - which sounds quite good for strings for

More on legato

7 years ago • 1 comment

Hi,
last couple of days I was investigating in legato realization since Isaac Weiss was not happy with the current sound and I also thought that there might be some improvement. Even though I didn't found it as problematic as him. But here are my results on that topic. This post uses a lot of spectrograms - if you're unfamiliar with this type of diagrams you might have a look here.

A spectrogram basically displays frequency on the y-axis

Hello everyone,
I did a little screencast explaining things about single note crescendo. Have fun watching!

Crescendo MuseScore

EDIT: Something went wrong with the first upload (it was missing some seconds at the end) I did a reupload and change URL above!

Weekly status update June 6th to June 12th

Hi,
this is my weekly update. I'll divide this post into the different things I worked this week and provide some insight how things are.

Single note crescendo

Single note crescendo (aka CC11) is almost finished. There is a PR and after opening this one I had to fix some bugs (found through mtests) and improve some of the code style.

Most of the bugs were due to the fact that I tried to make the default setting for playback

Weekly status update May 30th to June 5th

Hello,
here is a quick status updated what happened this week. As according to my plan I was mostly working on single note crescendo and legato playback. Both are working right now but there is still some polishing left.

As for legato I already showed you how it currently sounds and the baritone sax shows how important this functionality is. To get this working I first started by adding the functionality of sample based volume envelopes to MuseScores Fluidsynth. After

Status of Legato

Hi,
I worked the last days on legato. I first added sample based volume envelopes to Fluidsynth and then started tweaking parameters a bit and fighting some bugs ;)

Before I explain more I want you to show some examples. I created this example score:

The red slurs are the ones rendered with the new legato feature the black one are without it. I general changed the note duration during a slur to 110% so that there is a
