Crscendo and diminuendo
It seems to me that in Musescore 0.9.6 crescendo and diminuendo lines don't affect the real volume of the note: I would appreciate very much if they could do so... is it possible?

It's indeed not possible yet. If you really want the effect you can, as a workaround, change the velocity of each note via right click -> Note properties -> Velocity type : custom and set your velocity.

About Note properties -> velocity type: I see that there are 3 possible chioces: auto, user and offset; offset is in %: what does it mean? % of what?

% of the auto value, I guess. The auto value is determined by the current dynamics.
