Need help with MIDI keyboard using Line in as input.
I have the MIDI keyboard set up to my computer via audio jack. I've tested it, and the sounds are coming out of my laptop's speakers.
I've been in preferences and selected under I/O - PortAudio - API: MME , Device: Line In
These exact settings worked in Audacity and I was able to record just fine.
Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Audacity is an audio application and will record audio from your keyboard.
MuseScore cannot process audio, but requires MIDI messages received from a Keyboard via a MIDI interface.
If you let us know the make and model of your keyboard we can tell you whether this is possible.

Do you know a workable app I can use for my apple product that sends midi messages? :D

I'm sorry for my ignorance. I couldn't find a single question on the internet related to mine--'Can you send MIDI messages(signals) through audio cable?'. Maybe it's because the answer is so obvious and I am so...you know?
Anyway. I guess there's no way around this one. I'll have to spend money. :(

Which sort of tablet and computer do you have? What sort of cable? What do you really want to do? Play a keyboard in an app and add notes in MuseScore?

Everything's okay. I eventually found this post https://musescore.org/node/8000 and got it working using a virtual keyboard for my laptop instead of tablet. Which is better because of wider display.
There are two problems though...
1. The LoopBe1 link took me to a site which McAfee nearly scared me to dead after already installing the program. So what's done is done...
2. Just a technical issue with my touch screen or something. Whenever I press and release a key it inputs twice into the program.
You guys at MuseScore are awesome. Please keep up the good work! :D

Cool! Got the second problem fixed! In VMPK go to Edit - Preferences - Make only Touch and Keyboard Inputs are checked. I have the translate one checked, but I don't know what it does. Anyways it works! :D
-edit...If you do this (check keyboard) you will get the keys highlighted when pressed, but... If you're looking for some potential way of pressing a key on your keyboard to select whole, 1/4, 1/8 notes in MuseScore while still having VMPK as main window opened (like I am), then this won't work.
