repeat issues
MuseScore is ignoring the repeats that I put in my song and the repeats are turned on. I tried exiting out and reopening MuseScore but that didn't help. I turned the repeats off to see if MuseScore is being backwards and that didn't work.

If you are expecting a repeat to the top of the tune, you need a repeat barline there also.
oh ok thanks

Yes, and if you don't want to look at it you can right-click it and make it invisible.

Well it was at the beggining of the song and you usually don't need two repeat signs for a beggining of a song so I was really confused....but thanks any way.

There are two different engines here:
1. Notation
2 Audio playback
For 1, there is no need for the repeat at the beginning, because as humans, we understand what we really mean.
2. It's much more difficult for a machine to understand what we mean, so we have to be specific.

I don't agree. The playback must always try to follow the notation so playback is the only "engine" in question. What should be happening is that MS should assume that, whenever playback is starting at (or back at) the beginning of the score, the first repeat forward sign is the beginning of the piece, until overridden by a proper forward repeat sign. Algorithmically it seems that simple to me.

Ok, I see what you mean by that and all but you shouldn`t need two repeats at the top of a peice for a repeat to take place...oh well. MuseScore might need special details on that kind of stuff.

I'm not sure if you are replying to my comments, but thats what I said. The location for where an "end repeat" sign should go back to should be the beginning of the piece, no "start repeat" sign needed. There are probably exceptions to this to be dealt with, but thats my simple look at things.

--> MuseScore plays measure 1 and 2 and 1 and 2. See file attached. (MuseScore 1.0, Windows)

Well it could also be I have a lot of repeats in my song. See if the first repeat works on your computer. (I have MuseScore 1.0, Windows XP)

Well I was really replying to both of you but oh well doesn't make a difference. But as I said MuseScore is special and might need extra help on that stuff.

As a performer the repeat would not make sense, so it does make sense for MuseScore neither :)
I tried to figured out what you meant. See the file attached.
The rules are :
For every end repeat bar there must be a start repeat except for the first end repeat bar that will be match with the beginning of the piece.
For every start repeat there must be a end repeat.

In partiicular, looks like the last open repeat has no corresponding close repeat, and that's what is confusing MuseScore. Unfortunate this has the result of messing up previous repeats, though.

Oh I see now....I had that last repeat there because I was going to use it (I'm obviously not done with the song yet) but I didn't think it would mess up the beggining either.....thanks.
