Remove navigator?
I find the navigator window to be very clunky and long ago hide it and use page, home and end keys to navigate.
Is it really useful?

Are you talking about 1.1, or do you mean some new feature in 2.0 that make the nvigator less necessary? I can't imagine possibly doing without it in 1.1. I find it to be far the quickest way to move around the score. If there was a Finale-like "scroll mode", and if there was a way to move vertically on the page using keyboard only, I could see not using Navigator, but as far as I know neither of things is currently possible.
Actually, that might be a good idea removing it.
Only when this is implemented though: #10291: Scroll bar

Seems like that report could use more detail - it isn't at all obvious how "navigation bar" would differ from what is currently there.
Don't get me wrong - plenty of room for improvement in the navigator. But no one could I ever support getting rid of it until something better was developed to replace it.
BTW, is it just me, or does the navigator no longer follow the score when scrolling through with page up/down if there are more pages than fit in the navigator window?

That's why I proposed my idea that would replace it - with the bar (just a normal one - like what you get in a browser), you can move around to points in the score.

I still have no idea what you are proposing. The phrase "navigation bar" means nothing to me. My browser doesn't have anything that I can think as being at all applicable to MuseScore. Could you describe in more detail what it would look like (maybe a screen shot of the one in whatever browser you use?) and how it would work? I'm just having trouble wrapping my brain around it.
EDIT: is it possible you are referring to a simple *scroll bar*?

Yes - scroll bar :).
Changed accordingly.
Thanks!

I'm sure there's something I don't understand here.
I like (and, in fact, need) the Navigator, probably because I change zoom levels very frequently when working. (I like having a visual reference of (1) my location on a given page while closely zoomed in, and (2) the location of the page within the score.) Anybody who doesn't like or need the Navigator can choose not to display it with a single keystroke.
The only time I find its usefulness to be compromised is when the length of a a score exceeds the number of pages that can be displayed. In such cases, I would definitely like a scroll bar in addition to the Navigator so that I could shift its position to display a different range of pages.
Is that what's proposed? Or, rather, a scroll bar instead of the navigator?
Edit: In response to the original question, YES -- it's really useful ... for the reasons I mentioned.

For those reasons, we could have both.
We should keep the navigator, but we need to add scroll bars on there when the length of the score runs it off the navigator. When playing back scores, the navigator should scroll with the playback instead of staying at the starting position. Also, (I'm not sure if this is a navigator issue) when playing back a large score, the pages bounce to the top if you scroll anything past the bottom staff. This is annoying when trying to view (and listen for) your double-bass part. Finally, a Finale-like scroll view would be absolutely great for composing.
