Show formatting ('show invisibles' in a text app)
Does anyone know if there's a way to see formatting? In a text editor like "Word" it would be 'show invisibles' and then paragraph marks, tabs, etc. show in blue.
Quite often something is preventing me from formatting the way I want especially when I open a .xml file and I keep hitting the score with a hammer until it's fixed. Easier way?

At the bottom of the View menu, you can choose whether to display "Unprintable" items, which are basically what you're looking for; line breaks, spacers, frames, etc.

Good point, however, I have "unprintable" checked and I'm not seeing text formatting - I can see line breaks and page breaks - but that's about it. While I'm at it... "double-click" selects word, "triple-click" selects complete text box.
I'm on a Mac, maybe it's different for Windows.

Ah, I thought you meant music formatting. Text formatting, I don't think there's anything like that. The best I can offer is, to clear out any custom formatting in a piece of text, click once on it and use the "Reset Text to Style" button in the Inspector.

Thanks, I'll try that. Don't use the Inspector much.
Remember, MuseScore has no word wrap. If a line ends before you want it, it has to be because there is a hard line break there. Seeing it won't actually tell you anythihng you don't already know: if a line of text ends, it is because there is a break after it.
If you continue to have problems, please post the score you are having trouble with and explain in more detail what specifically you are trying to do.
