Where's the Music Box Instrument?
I want to write a Music Box score, so I downloaded and installed the recommended Timbres Of Heaven GM_GS_XG_SFX V 3.2 Final.sf2, which (according to the text file) has a Music Box. I've now got it as the default soundfont, but in my score when I right-click on the staff and go to Staff Properties > Change Instrument > All instruments? I can't find it, even when I search for "box". What am I doing wrong?

A music box is not an actual instrument you can actually write music for - there is no way for a human performer to play written music for it - so it is not defined as an Instrument. You can however choose an actual instrument lie Synthesizer or really anything you like and then use the Mixer to assign it a music box sound if your soundfont provides one you like.

Oh! Okay, I've used the Celesta and told the Mixer that it's a Music Box, that seems to work -- now if I understand correctly, if I save and run the mscz on a different computer on which MuseScore's using the default FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3 soundfont, it'll sound like a celesta again? (Not a problem, they're pretty similar, just want to make sure I understand this.)

Well, FluidR3 has a Music Box sound as well. It does sound kind of like a celesta, but it's not the same sou d as the actual celesta in FluidR3.

I mean, unless you're Wintergatan and have a punch-hole music box that runs based off a sheet of paper... not like it matters.

Right, thanks. I actually do... So I'd honestly really appreciate if they added it as an instrument. There's still nothing like that here, is there?

As mentioned, one cannot normally write for music box since they are normally fixed, which is why there is no listing for it under in the instruments list. But there is a sound for it in the soundfont. you'll be able to access it directly in 4.2, but for now, you can access it by installing the "split" version of the soundfont I created: https://community.masteringmusescore.com/c/resources/ms-basic-individua…. Or find any third party soundfont that provides this sound.
If you are saying there is a version of the isntruemtn you can actually write for and know the standard clef to use and the official range for the instrument and the name that should be used n the score, then feel free to open an issue on GitHub providing that info, ideally along with a link to further info about the instrument.

I attached a graphic of the range for the 30 note music box.
It is not really established but I would use a normal treble clef.
