Midi playback is very soft

Hey guys,

All the sound coming from musescore (both during note entry and playback) is very soft, which makes transcribing music a pain. (As I have to set my system volume to 100% and then lower the volume of my music software.) I already have the volumes in the mixer set to 100%.

When I save a score online, volumes return back to normal. (fairly loud)

This might not be a musescore problem since I had the same problem in finale, but I'm hoping maybe one of you guys knows how to fix it. I'm running OSX.
