Beam across barlines

• Mar 14, 2012 - 10:15

Hi :-)

I found a bug in MusesScore 1.2 (also in 1.1).

When trying to create a beam across the barlines, there's a problem if there is a line break. The beam goes all over the line (it should be broken).

Is this beaming pattern conventional?

I was always taught that you shouldn't beam across the beat like that in compound time, but rather use slurs to indicate the manner of performance.

There were some very weird things done in music engraving in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many of which are deprecated now.

I'm no expert, but maybe this is one of them?

In any case, MuseScore should be able to cope with it for historical accuracy if nothing else, but I suspect that this should be a feature request rather than a bug report.

So how does Brahms cope with the end of a line in this way? Could you attach a graphic of the orginal score?
