repeat bars not adhered to when using DS Al segno
When I use D.S. al segno, during
playback musescore jumps to the segno sign as appropriate but does not repeat the bars
that have repeat bar lines associated with them as it did the first time
through. is this a bug or is it a setting somewhere? Thank you.

The commonest scenario is to not repeat when you jump back with a DS or DC so that's the way MuseScore does it.

is there any way to get it to respect the repeat bars. Otherwise I have to take the repeat bars out and copy and paste the repeated bars making the score longer.

In the development version it's now able to play back jumps with repeats, so maybe try out the nightly builds.
For Musescore 2.x: Attache the score. If you're using Voltas maybe there is possible a workaround with a further hidden jump.

Or, don't worry about the playback and just keep the score shorter. Or if you really need it to playback that way for some reason, make a second copy of the score for just that purpose, keeping the real version separate.
