MIDI song text

Hi!

Many MIDI-files you can download from the web contain lyrics. But are these always visible? Do you some times have to turn them on? In another music score program, I think I got the lyrics in when I chose a special alternative of some kind. But when I opened the same MIDI-file in Musescore, I didn't get any lyrics. I'm quite sure it was the same MIDI-file...

Yes, I did, but I couldn't see any answers to my problem... I'm quite sure I got text in with the MIDI-file attached (pretty fly) in this program: http://www.notation.com/NotationComposer.php . But now my licence has expired, so I'm unable to check. Is somebody able to see if there is lyrics included in any of the MIDIs attached?

I can confirm that JoJo

Examining the tracks in Anvil Studio shows that Lemon Tree (Êàðàîêå) contains a lyric track with just lyrics and no notes.

None of the other SMFs contain lyrics.

I suspect that MuseScore is not displaying the lyrics as they are not attached to note events, but in a separate lyric track with its own delta timings.

This kind of MIDI file is very common on the Internet, sometimes having a .KAR suffix instead of .MID and are used by MIDI Karaoke players. The lyrics track is separate so these players can display the lyrics on screen
