Playback issues with repeats

• Feb 16, 2013 - 10:43

I seem to have found some bugs. I have a piece that has a D.S. al Coda, and I set it up as the tutorial video details. The passage from the Segno to the "To Coda" has many barline repeats in it. Playback honors the barline repeats until it is sent back to the Segno by the D.S. al Coda. Then playback completely ignores the barline repeats in the passage between the Segno and the "To Coda." Is this expected behavior, or is it a bug?

Also, I have a situation where I have a volta that has a repeat list 1, 2, 4, and a volta with a repeat list 3. That situation works, but after the fourth repeat, the measure marked by the volta for repeat 3 gets played again because it comes after the 4th repeat on the staff. I don't think that should happen. It should only be played on the 3rd repeat and skipped after the 4th repeat.

I eagerly await a bug fix or work around that addresses those issues.

Thank you.

By convention repeats barline are not executed after D.S. or D.C.

Over 2 Voltas does not work correctly in version 1.2. This is a bug.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Do you have a reference you can link to that explains the relationship between repeats barline and D.C. or D.S.? I would love to become more acquainted with all the conventions of musical notation. So, if you have a general reference to link to, that would be great.

While we are on the subject, I noticed that repeat measure symbol (the over-sized percent sign) isn't executed during playback either. I had a 4 bar passage followed by 4 bars containing the repeat measure symbol. The first 4 bars played back as expected, but no sound at all was produced on the bars containing the repeat measure symbol.

OK, so I was misusing the repeat symbols. My bad.

I have some other strangeness happening though. Hopefully, I'm just doing something wrong and you can point me in the right direction. I have a very long passage that is bracketed in barline repeats (it starts with a opening repeat barline and ends with a closing repeat barline with no repeat barlines in between). Later in the score, I have a D.S. al Coda, and the Segno is on the opening measure of than long repeated passage. I want to go To Coda before the end of the repeated passage, but unless I place the To Coda on the last bar of the repeated passage, play back ignores the To Coda. When I do put the To Coda on the last bar of the repeated passage, The bar immediately after the repeated passage is played back simultaneously with the first bar of the Coda, After the first bar of the Coda, the Coda plays back fine.
