MuseScore 3.1 for Mac and CPU usage of Core Audio process

• 11. Mai 2019 - 14:11

I wonder if it's just me, when MuseScore is running, then the Core Audio process used for music output is constantly using CPU power (around 10%) even when no music is being played.

This causes the fan on my Macbook Pro to start at some point. I haven't noticed a similar behavior under Windows yet. Is it possible to use the process only during playback? My Mac is older, but other applications use Core Audio without the process running (so intensively) all the time. This is not a new problem, it was already observed in MS 2.

OS: macOS High Sierra (10.13), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.1.0.22068, revision: 1982daf

No, I don't think so. The channels were not open and there was no instrument with mixed channels, but Core Audio (Core Audio is a low-level API for dealing with sound in Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems) always has a CPU usage of about 10% without playing anything. Even if MuseScore is just dumbling around in the background. The whole thing stops as soon as MuseScore is closed.
