"Add Palette" doesn't add anything

• May 26, 2020 - 20:41

This is my first post / bug report. Please let me know if I'm doing it wrong.

OS: Ubuntu Core 18, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.4.2., revision: 148e43f

Under "Palettes" on the left there is a button that says "Add palet..."

I click on that button.

A menu of palettes to add comes up, each with an "Add" button beside it.

I click on an "Add" button.

There is no new palette in the list of palettes on the left, i.e., no palette got added to that list.

Is there another way I can add palettes, or is there now simply no way to do fingering and all the other stuff hidden in the seemingly un-addable palettes?

First, if your goal if just to get the standard palettes, easiest way is to switch to the Advanced workspace, using the control at the far right of the main toolbar.

That said, the "Add" button should work, but there was one other report of a user - also on Linux, I believe - who found it worked only sometimes. No one else could reproduce this, however. I'd suggest just trying again to see if it responds eventually.

Thanks for the reply, Marc.

I'm not sure which is the main toolbar, but at the far right of what I think is the main toolbar is an envelope icon with the word "Feedback" next to it. I don't think it does anything with the advanced palettes. Is that where I'm supposed to see something different?

I found a workaround just a few minutes ago. This is still a bug, but I'm able to work around it by clicking on the inscrutable, tiny symbol just to the left of the "x" that gets rid of the palettes. The mystery symbol looks like "<>" rotated 45 degrees counterclockwise. I don't know why it makes adding palettes work, but it does, reliably.
